Tasting Notes

In Saint Etienne de Lisse there is a small Italian enclave: Château Mangot. The Todeschini brothers, whose ancestors are originally from Bergamo, have taken over the family business and over time have created an actual gem of a property at this end of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Oak groves and lots of greenery – a lesson they have learned from their experience in Chianti Classico – form the frame of this south/south-east facing valley with 40-year-old plants, especially cabernet franc and merlot.
A bit of Italy in France, a dualism that is perfected in a pure and authentic expression of this land and of the hands that cultivate it.
Thus was born "Distique 14" by Château Mangot: the harmony in the opposites, the dream of two brothers – Yann and Karl – to make two different spirits coexist in a single wine. The result, needless to say, was sensational: a vibrant and voluptuous wine, a 100% Cabernet Franc enveloping the nose – on the warm notes of chocolate – and the mouth, that is warm and layered. A mouthful of ripe fruit, a juicy and textured wine, very approachable and vertical.
