BARDOLINO

Bardolino: the gentle red from the shores of Lake Garda

Our selection of Bardolino wines represents the essence of one of the most characteristic red wines of the Veneto region. Produced in the hilly area overlooking the eastern shore of Lake Garda, in the province of Verona, Bardolino is the most elegant and refined expression of the interaction between native grape varieties and a unique territory, characterized by a microclimate mitigated by the presence of the lake. This wine stands out for its extraordinary drinkability, light structure, and delicate aromatic profile that makes it immediately recognizable. Bardolino is proof of how a wine can be light and complex, immediate and territorial at the same time.

A traditional blend for a wine with a contemporary personality

Bardolino is mainly produced with Corvina Veronese grapes (35% to 65%), Rondinella (10% to 40%) and, to a lesser extent, other native varieties such as Molinara and Corvinone. Unlike Amarone and Valpolicella, which share the same ampelographic heritage, Bardolino is fresher and less concentrated, thanks to the morainic and glacial soils, which are lighter and rich in sandy deposits. The result is a wine with a ruby color that is not too intense, with fragrant aromas of cherry, raspberry, almond, and delicate spices. Its moderate tannic structure and pleasant acidity make it extremely versatile at the table and particularly suitable for serving slightly chilled (14-16°C), characteristics that in recent years have contributed to a renewed interest in this style of more agile and less concentrated wines. From the table to the aperitif: the versatility of Bardolino

From the table to the aperitif: the versatility of Bardolino

The gentle, low-tannin nature of Bardolino makes it an extraordinarily versatile wine in terms of food pairings, capable of ranging from traditional Garda cuisine to more innovative dishes. Perfect with lake fish dishes such as pike in sauce, it also pairs beautifully with delicate cold cuts, fresh and medium-aged cheeses, white meats, and light first courses. Its freshness and agile structure also make it an excellent aperitif wine, a characteristic that has contributed to its popularity in both the Italian and international markets. Bardolino Superiore DOCG, with a minimum aging period of one year, offers a more complex and structured version, ideal for accompanying more elaborate dishes, while Bardolino Chiaretto is the traditional rosé version, an expression of freshness and immediate pleasure.
