Tasting Notes

Ameri is magical, with its silky tannins that support layers of super-refined, elegant fruit in this almost sweet red. Blackberry, raspberry and cassis fruit, liquorice, tar and floral notes ending with mocha, leather, jam emerge with time in the glass, and shows textural finesse more than anything else. - Robert Parker

Toscana Sangiovese IGT “Ameri” 2017 - Podere San Cristoforo: Why we like it

When our Sangiovese grapes are fully ripe, we cut the shoot on which they are growing and leave the bunches to dry for several days on the vine. We then decided to revive the ancient Governo technique, which involves adding these partly dried grapes at the end of fermentation in order to obtain a particularly mellow, well-structured wine.
