Tasting Notes

The San Cristoforo flows from the glass with superb clarity and precision. It is an immensely pleasurable wine that is very much defined by its dark fruit tones, thick extraction, and an impenetrable appearance. The mouthfeel is deep and penetrating: black cherry, pressed blackberry and dried currant emerge from the glass. Background tones of spice, leather and bitter chocolate fill in the rear. The balance and depth here are simply impeccable. This is first-class juice. - Robert Parker

This full-bodied wine combines superbly with dishes of the Tuscan tradition: pappardelle con sugo di cinghiale (wide noodles with wild boar sauce), bistecca fiorentina (grilled steak), roast game and hard savory cheeses.

We are in one of the rare zones capable of producing a substantial 100% varietal Petit Verdot. The sparse bunches, constantly caressed by sea breezes, grow on the ochre-coloured gravel soils of Podere San Cristoforo, in the midst of olive trees and hundred year-old cork oaks. These elements yield a wine with rich fruit redolent of brushwood, whose straightforward vinification brings out all the characteristics of its terroir.
