Tasting Notes

Château Branaire-Ducru is a remarkable cru of Saint-Julien, with exemplary work ethic, one of the jewels of the appellation. Located opposite Beychevelle, this historic cru has been completely taken over by the Maroteaux family, who bought it in 1988. François-Xavier, son of the late Patrick Maroteaux, now manages the 60-hectare vineyard, helped by Jean-Dominique Videau, his technical director, and carries out the development of the estate. A brand-new vat room is operational for the 2022 vintage.
Coming from a plot spread over the whole of the appellation, the wine is unfailingly regular, in a style that is always very suave and elegant. It tends to highlight finesse and suppleness, more than strength. Like this ideal 2021, a great success of the vintage, rated 93-94+/100 by the Wine Advocate. Its delicacy and sensuality create a digestible wine, very seductive, which lingers with persistence.
