Tasting Notes

Straw yellow with golden reflections. The bouquet is reminiscent of citrus fruits and yellow fruits. On the palate it is fresh, sapid and intense to the point that it fills the mouth with a long fruity flavour.

Pairing

Sovenza, a small outlying district of San Floriano, is where Il Carpino winery is based, a small family business run by Franco and Anna Sosol recently joined by their two children Naike and Manuel. A total of 17 hectares are cultivated in complete respect of the territory and nature without using synthetic chemicals and with all the work done rigorously by hand. In the winery the grapes of the younger vines are allocated to the production of the “Vigna Runc” line, consisting of fresh highly drinkable wines fermented only in steel vats. Grapes from the older vines instead are used to produce the “Il Carpino” line, with maceration for a minimum of four days and refining in wood to fully enhance the longevity and complexity typical of these wines. Driven on constantly by the quest for quality, this winery is now one of the best in the region, appreciated and lauded by all.

Symbolising the constant quest for improvement, the Vigna Runc line combines the younger character of the vines of Il Carpino. The exclusive use of steel and the same identical care in the vineyard contribute to the creation of intense fresh wines that express all the typical characteristics of the Collio vines. A clean Chardonnay, which recalls not only the typical aspects of the vine but also something of Friuli thanks to a sapidity that only the typical soil of the Oslavia region can give.
