Tasting Notes

Ruby red colour in the glass, with a hint of purple. The bouquet expresses decisive scents of dark fruit, blackberries and raspberries, and cherry jam. Rich on the palate and full, with very evident tannins and a great acid structure. Savoury finish on fruity notes.

Pairing

Dolcetto “La Lepre” pairs magnificently with many traditional Piedmontese dishes, from vegetable or meat starters, to rice and pasta dishes and to quite elaborate mains.

Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba DOCG “Volumi Bollati La Lepre” 2014 - Fontanafredda (1l): Why we like it

Volumi Bollati is an exclusive project conceived by Fontanafredda to propose a new method of consumption, more aware and attentive to modern requirements. This is why it is proposed in three different sizes: half-litre, ideal for two, one litre, ideal for four and magnum, for six people. These are considered to be the "perfect" doses for each group, in order to remain beneath the legal limits imposed upon drivers. Fontanafredda's Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba DOCG “Volumi Bollati - La Lepre” 2013 comes from vineyards in the municipality of Diano d’Alba, exposed east, in calcareous marl soils. Vinification takes place in steel tanks, as does ageing, which lasts for about six months, followed by a few months in the bottle.
