A glass of Pinot Noir is so much more than a simple glass of wine. It represents victory, hard work and passion. This grape, that the French call “l’enfant terrible” is a strange variety of grape that is difficult to harvest and is often a risky choice for vintners. So why even bother then? The answer is because Pinot Noir is the King of all wines. That capricious little grape, when handled with agricultural savvy, can transform into an elegant and refined wine that just gets better with age. From caterpillar to butterfly, Pinot Noir is difficult to manage but can lead to potentially wonderful results and it is the King of today’s selection. But, enough talking, let’s get down to it. When it comes to our recommendations, we suggest beginning with the region of Burgundy with Joseph Drouhin’s “Laforêt” Pinot Noir, rich in aromas of blueberry and blackcurrant on the nose, with nice bold tannins. On the other hand, we’ve got Tramin wineries’ Alto Adige Pinot Noir, a mountain red with a long juicy finish. If you’re looking for something different, try a Pinot Noir from the edge of the world: Patagonia, or another from remote locations such as New Zealand. What are you waiting for? The King of wines awaits you today.
