Tasting Notes

This ruby red wine features a very typical structure of aromas that boasts notes of berries, violet and bold spices. In the mouth, this wine gives off a freshness that is characterised by mild acidity and a unique balance. It is an incredibly elegant wine that closes with a persistent finish.

The perfect wine to accompany any meal, this Sangiovese pairs especially well with spicy, fragrant roasts, stews of game, aged cheeses or mushrooms including truffles.

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG "Vicoregio 36" 2018 - Mazzei, Castello di Fonterutoli: Why we like it

This purebred Sangiovese is the product of four decades of mass and clonal selection of 36 biotypes of grapes. It is the birth product of a one-of-a-kind project throughout the region of Tuscany that combines the concepts of blending and the production of crus despite being a wine featuring only a single variety of grapes. Mazzei’s “Mix 36” 2011 IGT Tuscan Sangiovese is a red wine left to ferment in steel vats and aged for approximately 20 months in 500-liter gallons. It is a wine that stands out for its elegance and complexity, in true Sangiovese fashion.
