Tasting Notes

This lovely ruby red wine boasts fragrances of ripe berries and fruit preserved in spirits with vanilla and pepper undertones. In the mouth it is full-bodied and well-structured, with pungent but balanced tannins, and is characterised by a long, captivating finish.

Pairing

This wine pairs excellently with red meats, game or fowl. For instance, it makes for a wonderful choice to pair with stewed goat.

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG “Madonnino della Pieve” 2013 - Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi in Chianti: Why we like it

Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi in Chianti’s “Madonnino della Pieve” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG is produced from grapes hailing from their “Madonnino” vineyard, located across from the Parish of Santa Maria Novella in the town of Castelvecchi. It is made following a single-variety wine-making process using Sangiovese grapes that are aged for a good 42 months, 24 of which take place in wood barrels. It is a complex wine both in terms of aromas and taste, that is only produced during the best vintages. It is definitely worth the steep price tag.
