Tasting Notes
Intense impenetrable ruby red colour. The bouquet is seductive, opening with hints of overripe black fruit enhanced with complex reminiscences of mocha, dark chocolate, pepper and oak. On the palate it is full-bodied with a smooth blend of tannins and a superb captivating finish.
Pairing
It is not a wine for drinking with a simple Sunday lunch but should be kept for special occasions. Excellent with roast quail on toast.
Valpolicella "Monte Lodoletta" DOC 2000 - Dal Forno Romano: Why we like it
After harvesting, the bunches of grapes of all four varieties are left to dry and only in mid December are they pressed. After fermentation the wine is aged for 36 months in barrels. Lastly, the Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Dal Forno Romano winery rests in the bottle for two years. Sensual and mellow to both the nose and the palate, it needs no great introductions especially considering the calibre of the winery that produces it. It is a great wine.
